Fun with quilting scraps

As a quilter, I have loads of scraps and love to put unusual colors together.  This is a set of coasters that I think is a great hostess gift.  I bought some cloth coasters several years ago and they are by far my favorite ones to use as they do not stick to your cup like the ceramic ones do.  They are also machine washable.  I used the same pattern on both sides which was just one to two inch strips and used canvas in the middle to try and bulk them up a little.  I love them!

Dump Truck Revised

So I listened to big sis Terri, and added Dump.  It says it all, I think!

My second attempt is a dump truck!  Lots of fun!!! I am still trying to add a word to the upper left corner but I haven't managed to come up with anything that I like. I used fabric for the truck and buttons for the wheels and sewed all of it by hand.  The letters and numbers are painted on.  The size is 9X12.

I hope you love it as much as I do!!!
My first attempt at mixed media for our new adventure!  I am very happy about how it turned out.  I used materiel for the letters in the same colors as the paint and sewed each letter by hand onto the canvas.  The size is 16X20.  I really love the way fabric looks on canvas so most of my art will be done in that manner.

Who We Are!

This is the only picture I could find of us on short notice.
I believe this was 10 years ago.
Starting at the bride and working clockwise...
Sandy, Tammy, Terri, Carol, Cindy, and the gorgeous bride, Lana.
The birth order is...Terri, Tammy, Cindy, Sandy, Carol and the baby, Lana.
I believe when this was taken, 2 of us were living in Texas, 2 in Arkansas and 2 in Kansas, where the bride and our parent's were at that time.
These were some of the most fun days.

Moving along in time...

We are a strong Christian family. But our Faith was really tested just a few weeks after this picture was taken. Our mom had been fighting breast cancer for 17 years and her battle was ending. This was our parent's 50th wedding anniversary. We lost her on June 7, 2006. This was taken in March. We also had great fun here, but it was tough.

It has been a rough few years for all of us. We have our issues as individuals and some of us
struggled more with Mom's death than others. Our dad remarried 18 months ago to a wonderful lady. We are a lot to swallow and she is doing a great job trying to get to know all of us.
Anyway, we haven't always been there for each other as sisters. Hopefully this blog and our crafts will help us with our relationships and our grief.

Thoughts in my head...

I thought I would introduce myself...I am the oldest, bossy sister. I have a wonderful family. An amazing husband, 6 children, 3 children-in-law, and the very best part...3 grandchildren, so far.
Here we are Christmas 2009.

Since the sisters have come up with this amazing plan...I can't settle my head. I always have trouble identifying my boundaries within a project. I tend to take on too much, too fast. I am praying and dreaming about all the zillions of things with WORDS I can contribute. I will have to come up with something soon that I can settle with. I have had 2 sleepless nights so far... HELP!

Our New Blog!

So, we are six sisters who are starting a blog to tell the story of our trials and tribulations with our new adventure.  Making crafts for the fall craft fair in Northwest Arkansas and everything must have WORDS.  We are all full of ideas and hopefully talent, too!
